The study investigated how people perceive their body weight and the methods they use to control it, focusing on the psychological aspects involved. Researchers surveyed 1,000 randomly selected individuals nationwide, aiming to represent the entire population. They found that many men (39.30%) underestimated their weight, while a significant number of women (24.90%) overestimated theirs. Interestingly, a small percentage of men (2%) sought medical help for weight control, whereas more women (15.20%) did.

The study linked these perceptions and weight control methods to psychological factors such as anxiety, self-esteem, body satisfaction, quality of life, and eating habits. Men and women using medical support for weight control, and women who overestimated their weight, reported more psychological issues. This suggests that distorted body weight perception and medical weight control methods may increase the risk of psychological disorders.

In conclusion, the study highlights a significant link between psychological problems and how people perceive and manage their body weight. It emphasizes the need for public health policies to address these issues effectively.
